Hi All,
I am looking to build a pair of model 14 cabs from all the parts I've assembled. Does anyone have the exact plans for the Model 14? I would greatly appreciate any help.
Also, a while ago someone posted a request for info on how to wire the ALTEC LF-1 subwoofer. I have the original manual for this unit and would be happy to make a copy for anyone who needs the info.
Thanks,
JIm Butler

Jim,
I have been working on an accurate drawing of the Model Fourteen. Thanks to several of the Altec Board users, I have correct dimensions. The drawing is not completed however, all the needed measurements are in place. I will email you with the info.

I have a good digital camera, and a pair of 14's. If you need any detailed photo's, let me know and I would be willing to take one apart a little to get some good pics.

Charles,
If you take a few shots of the Model Fourteen interior, I would be very interested. Especially the neck area and internal bracing (if any).
Thank you,
Jim

If I remember correctly, they are basically just a ported bass reflex cabinet and a cabinet for the horn and crossover, bolted together with a spacer. I don't know how big the hole is that the wire goes down through to the woofer, it might be just enough for the wire to go through. I will take one apart later and take some pics and post links to them.

Charles,
I think you will find much of the area between the upper and lower cabinet sections is open similar to the Model 19's. This of course increases the overall internal volume. If you do get around to a few pictures of the internals, could you take a few measurements of this area?
Thanks,
Jim

yea, I will pull one apart later tonight or tomorrow. Any other measurements you might need? I can always take some later if you are in question about something.

HI Jim and Charles,
Thanks for the help on this.
I too am wondering what the exact sizes of the openings of the pass-through from the upper box to the lower one. I assume it is similar to the Model 19 but I am just guessing.
I also would like to know what if any internal bracing or blocking there might be inside.
And, last, are the upper/lower cabs bolted together ala the Model 19?
I took apart a apir of my Model 19's to completely refinish them. When reassembling them I reinforced the upper/lower cab connection with screws. I then sealed the joints with significant caulking. In stock form, the spacer form was a huge air leak in the Model 19 cabinet (and inadequetely connected) . Made a big difference to seal it up properly.

$810 for those, go figure! I had a set in better shape with good woofers, on for 3 weeks with no bids and finally they sold for $525. I had to make room for some a pair of our Iconic Stonehenge V's so they went down the road!
